Kyoto University of Art and Design currently has Student Exchange Program with 22 institutions in 13 countries around the world. While actively hosting exchange students, we also send our students overseas. Here, students can study their field of specialty for approximately half a year. If you are interested in studying at Kyoto University of Art and Design as an exchange student, please ask your school if they are affiliated with our Student Exchange Program.

October 15 for Spring Semester (April – July/August)
April 15 for Fall Semester (September – January/February)
The exchange students are required to have Japanese or English language skills to apply to the exchange program at KUAD. All courses are taught in Japanese only and we do not have any courses taught in English. However, professors and students at KUAD may help international students in English. In general, exchange students who do not speak Japanese take studio classes (instead of the lecture classes). We recommend that exchange students have basic Japanese skills for daily life.
MEXT Scholarship Program
In order to enter KUAD with Japanese government (Monbukagakusho) scholarship, a student needs to follow a predefined procedure on his/her own. Please refer to the related links about the details.
Unfortunately we do not have any on/off campus housing for our students. Exchange students have to find accommodation by themselves. The International Center will provide accommodation information in Kyoto (weekly apartment, guesthouses, and off campus student houses, etc,).
