Qualifications for Admission
Applicants must fulfill any one of following conditions:
| 1 | Those who have graduated from any universities in Japan (or expected to graduate by March 2016) | |

| 2 | Those who have been awarded a Bachelor's degree by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation (NIAD-UE) (or expected to be awarded by March 2016) | |

Evaluation System
Applicants will be evaluated comprehensively through an oral examination and by designated materials submitted.
1. Oral examination
- The oral examination consists of an oral presentation on research or production plan for the Master’s course (about 10 minutes) followed by a Q&A.
- Submitted application materials will be available to applicants at the exam.
- Applicants may bring materials/artworks as reference materials to the venue as long as they are easy to open/prepare and show. Please consult us in advance if you need to use any equipment.
- For applicants to the Painting Field, you must bring artworks smaller than F50 size (H116.7cm x W91cm).
- Applicants to Choreography Area of the Performing Arts Field will be required to recite by memory a two-minute or shorter performance of text selected by the applicant.
2. Designated materials to submit
(1) Short 1,200 - 2,000 character essay on research theme, method, research achievements up to then, and expected goal, in Japanese.
(2) English summary of the short essay

(3) Theses on research theme (about 8,000 - 12,000 Japanese characters)
<For applicants to the Mixed Media Field, the Painting Field, the Visual Creation Field, the Design Field,
the Architecture and Landscape Design Field, the Film Production Field, the Performing Arts Field, the
Creative Writing Field*>
(3) Artwork Portfolio
* Applicants to the Creative Writing Area of the Creative Writing Field must submit original texts of fiction, such as novels, or non-fiction, such as critiques. Either entire texts or extracts, applicants must submit over 30 pages of 400-character manuscript paper.

(1) Written application for Preliminary Review for the Admission Requirements. (Use the university’s form and write in Japanese)
(2) Certificate of Graduation (or Certificate of Expected Graduation)
(3) Transcript of the school which the Bachelor degree was awarded, or of postsecondary courses at specified specialized training colleges
(4) Degree Certificate issued in English. (Only for graduates of universities in China except Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau.)
(5) Self addressed stamped envelope
(6) Copies of passport and alien registration card (for international students only.)
(7) Certificate of registration (for international students who are registered at universities or Japanese language schools in Japan only.)

Sato International Cultural Scholarship Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship for Japanese students and international students who major fine arts, such as Japanese painting, oil painting, printmaking, etc.
Monthly stipend: 30,000 yen (for two years)
Japan Arts Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship for Japanese students and international students who major in art creation, such as painting, sculpture, art and crafts, architecture, graphic design, and industrial design, etc.
Yearly stipend: 500,000 yen (for one year)
<Special Scholarships for International Students>
KUAD Graduate School Scholarship for International Students
A support system for international students enrolled in the regular graduate school curriculum of the university. It is available for those who excel both in academic and personal qualities and work eagerly in their research or production. Selection is made based on the results of the entrance examination or achievements of the previous academic year.
Yearly Stipend: 200,000 (only for one year)
Number of scholarships: 4 students for each year

Applicants will be evaluated comprehensively through an oral examination and by designated materials submitted.

- The oral examination consists of an oral presentation on research plan for the Doctoral Course (about 15 minutes) followed by a Q&A.
- Submitted application materials will be available to applicants at the exam.
- Applicants may bring materials/artworks as reference materials to the venue as long as they are easy to open/prepare and show. Please consult us in advance if you have materials for distribution.
- Projectors, DVD players, document cameras, whiteboards, easels and equipped outlets can be used for the examination. Please consult us in advance if you need to use any equipment or facility you bring such as a PC or a slide projector.
2. Designated materials to submit
(1) Short 8,001 - 12,000 character essay on research theme, method, research achievements up to then, and expected goal, in Japanese.
(2) English summary of the short essay.

(3) Master’s thesis (The body of the thesis and reference pages should be submitted on sheets of A4 papers.)
(4) Summary of Master’s thesis (about 1,601 - 2,000 written in Japanese characters)
