京都芸術大学附属康耀堂美術館20周年記念展
信州蓼科高原に位置する京都芸術大学附属康耀堂美術館（館長 千住博）は、2026年に大学附属美術館としての開館20周年を迎えます。この機会に、これからの日本、そしてアジアの芸術を担う新進作家に持続的な支援を行うことを目的として、20周年記念展の公募を行います。
かつて岡倉天心は、近代物質文明の暴力性に対し、自己と他者、そして自己と宇宙の調和を重視する東洋思想の重要性を説きました。それからもはや一世紀以上が経ちましたが、世界情勢の混迷や人々の分断はさらに広がり、狭い自我が他者や自然への敬意を失わせています。文化や芸術も、いたずらに時流に棹さす自己アピールやプロパガンダの道具となったかにさえ思われます。
しかし今こそ、謙虚に自然と心を通わせ、自己を深く探究してきた東洋の思想や芸術の意味を再考するときではないでしょうか。今日のグローバル化した世界でも、アジアの芸術があらためて注目され始めています。そしてなにより、日本をはじめアジア各地で、多くの若い芸術家たちが新たな芸術を探究し、創作に励んでいます。その熱意と才能は、大きな希望を与えてくれるものです。
京都芸術大学では、狭小なアイデンティティの主張や浅薄なオリエンタリズムにとらわれることなく、新たなアジア芸術の価値を見出し、その意義と営みを大学コレクションというかたちで将来に残そうとしています。これからの日本とアジアの芸術のために、意欲あふれる芸術家の皆様の応募を心よりお待ちしております。
審査員
東京芸術大学美術学部日本画科卒、同大学大学院博士課程満期退学。1995年ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレ名誉賞(東洋人初)、日本芸術院賞・恩賜賞、外務大臣表彰、イサム・ノグチ賞等国内外の主要な賞を複数受賞し、作品はメトロポリタン美術館、シカゴ美術館、スミソニアン博物館、ヴィクトリア・アンド・アルバート博物館、国内においては東京国立博物館、奈良国立博物館、国立国際美術館等に収蔵。代表作に「ウォーターフォール(滝)」シリーズなど。
記念展公募に寄せて
現代美術の多くは西洋的主知主義を軸に展開して来たと私は考えています。それが悪いわけではなく、幾多の名作が生まれ今日に至ります。
しかしながらそれだけで語るには、今や世界はあまりに複雑化し、多様性に満ち、不寛容、混迷を深めています。
世界の欠落を指摘して美により補完する事が芸術の本来のあり方ですが、それはここに可能でしょうか。
これからの世界の問題解決の糸口は脱西洋の発想法にこそ存在しているのではないでしょうか。
そのようなことを意識し、新しい美術館のコレクションを収集することにした第一段階として、今回幅広く皆さんから作品を公募します。奮ってご参加ください。

千住博
明治学院大学社会学部社会学科卒、シカゴ・コロンビア・カレッジ大学院修士課程（写真専攻）修了。東京都写真美術館や東京都現代美術館の学芸員を歴任後、アーティゾン美術館副館長を経て現職。日本初のフェミニズム企画展（1991）などジェンダーの視点での展覧会を多数手がけ、近現代美術の第一人者として活躍。2005年ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレ日本館コミッショナーも務めた。
記念展公募に寄せて
現代美術はその作品を制作したアーティストの考えを表しているだけではなく、そのアーティストを育んでいる社会や時代のあり方をも反映しています。情報が即座に行きかい氾濫する中で、なにが「本当のこと」なのか、ひとりひとりが慎重に選ばざるを得ない社会にわたしたちは生きています。多様化する価値観を尊びながら、若いアーティストたちがどのような作品を見せてくれるのか、未来を一歩予感させるような作品との出会いを期待しています。
笠原美智子
ワシントン大学卒、パリ第四ソルボンヌ大学美術史修士課程を修了。パレ・ド・トーキョー（パリ）チーフキュレーター、ヨコハマトリエンナーレ2011アーティスティック・ディレクターなどを歴任。アジア・欧州各地の国際展/芸術祭や主要美術館にて数々の企画を担い、杉本博司ら国際的なアーティストの展覧会も多数手がけてきた、現代美術キュレーションの第一人者。

芸術は文化や宗教といった差を超えて共感し対話出来る希望の場です。混迷と分断の時代を超えていくような革新的な技術や視点、表現の卓越さを感じさせ、人々の心を動かす作品に出合えることを大いに期待しています。

1次審査の通過作品は京都芸術大学ギャルリ・オーブ（京都府京都市）で展覧会形式での実物審査に参加していただきます。２次審査を経て各賞を決定します。
賞
大賞300万円 審査員特別賞（３点） 100万円（いずれも買上金として）
各賞を受賞した作品は原則として康耀堂美術館の買い上げとなることを想定しています。また1次審査入選・２次審査参加作品は、賞の受賞にかかわらず原則として康耀堂美術館20周年記念展の参加作品となります。

- 2次審査参加作品の搬出・郵送は、康耀堂美術館20周年記念展終了後に京都芸術大学から行っていただきます（2026年11月下旬〜12月上旬）。

応募要項募集作品
テーマの指定はありません。未発表の壁掛けまたは壁置きが可能な作品（油彩、アクリル、岩絵具、水彩、版画、染色、写真、ミクストメディアなどを含む）、１人１作品まで。
出品者の資格
日本やアジアのこれからの芸術家を育成するという賞の趣旨を理解していただいた上であれば、国籍・年齢は問いません。書類審査のエントリーは日本語または英語のみ。また２次審査（実物審査）に参加可能なもの。
作品規定
サイズは長辺240cm×短辺192cm以内。重量は30kg以内。

※２次審査の実物審査に関わる作品の搬入・設置・搬出にかかる費用は出品者負担。

Koyodo Museum of Art 20th Anniversary Exhibition
Located in the scenic Tateshina Highlands of Nagano prefecture, the Koyodo Museum of Art, Kyoto University of the Arts (Director: Hiroshi Senju) will celebrate its 20th anniversary as a university-affiliated museum in 2026. To mark this milestone, the museum is launching the 20th Anniversary Exhibition – Special Competition, with the aim of providing sustainable support to emerging artists who will shape the future of art in Japan and across Asia.
In the past, Tenshin Okakura emphasized the importance of Eastern thought which values harmony between the self and others and between the self and the universe as a counter to the violence of modern material civilization. More than a century has passed since then, yet global turmoil and division have only expanded further and narrow egos have deprived people of respect for others and for nature. Culture and art also sometimes appear to have become nothing more than tools for shallow self-assertion or propaganda.
However, now is precisely the time to reconsider the meaning of Eastern thought and art which have humbly communicated with nature and deeply explored the self. Even in today’s globalized world, Asian art is beginning to attract renewed attention. Above all, in Japan and throughout Asia, many young artists are exploring new forms of art and devoting themselves to creation. Their passion and talent give us great hope.
At Kyoto University of the Arts, we aim to discover new values in Asian art without being bound by narrow assertions of identity or superficial Orientalism and to preserve their significance and practices for the future in the form of a university collection. For the future of art in Japan and Asia, we sincerely look forward to the applications of ambitious and aspiring artists.

A document-based review will be conducted through online entry.

Announcement of First Selection Results
Applicants will be notified individually by email.

Second Selection
Works that pass the first selection will participate in an in-person review presented in exhibition format at Galerie Aube, Kyoto University of the Arts (Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan).
Awards will be determined after the second selection.
Awards
Grand Prize — JPY 3,000,000 (the amount will be paid as a purchase award)
Special Jury Prize (3 works) — JPY 1,000,000 each (the amount will be paid as a purchase award)

- The removal and return shipment of works from the second selection will take place after the close of the 20th Anniversary Exhibition from Kyoto University of the Arts (late November – early December 2026).

There is no designated theme. Each applicant may submit one work only, which must be wall-hanging or wall-mounted and previously unpublished.
Eligibility of Applicants
Applicants of all nationalities and ages are welcome, provided they understand and support the purpose of this prize which is to foster the next generation of artists in Japan and Asia.

Entry Fee
Free of charge.
* All expenses related to the transportation, installation, and removal of works for the second selection (in-person review) must be borne by the entrant.
